FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (May 1, Winnipeg, MB) In the Month of May, The Civility Center Reminds Us – “Through my attitude, words and actions, I have the power to contribute to a positive workplace culture.” Internationally renowned as the “go to” organization for anything related to civility, The Civility Center, has created a monthly calendar that includes events, ideas, and inspiration from around the world. The Civility Calendar is available free online with the objective of encouraging people to bring their most kind, most considerate, and most civil self to all their interactions. Each month focuses on a different aspect of civility and its interaction with life, and May’s INTERNATIONAL CIVILITY MONTH – FOCUS ON CIVILITY AT WORK.

“There is a growing body of research proving that civility at work increases retention,

engagement, and profitability. By teaching people how to be civil- and civility is a measurable competency – we can change the social landscape in our workplaces. Be a social architect ,” says Lew Bayer, ( Executive Director of Civility Center, CEO Civility Experts Inc.)

The message is : Gallup says 87% of workers worldwide are “emotionally disconnected from their workplaces and less likely to be productive.” In other words, work is more often a source of frustration than one of fulfillment for nearly 90% of the world’s workers. Alarmingly, research shows that on average 80% of workers frustration is a result of real, and/or perceived incivility at work. Fostering civility in the workplace is good for our health, our relationships, and our productivity. And it’s good for business too because civility at work has also been proven to increase retention, engagement and profitability for employers.

Every month includes an affirmation, and for May, the mantra is : “Through my attitude, words and actions, I have the power to contribute to a positive workplace culture.”
